Joel Stransky was challenged five years ago to take on the challenge of doing the unbelievably tough Absa Cape Epic for charity. It was a challenge he could not turn down and he used the opportunity to raise sponsorship for a number of worthy causes. He has now completed six Absa Cape Epics, raising substantial amounts of money for the charity each time. Joel most recently completed his 6th in 2015, with Anriette Schoeman a professional South African cyclist. As is customary Joel wears the now famous ‘Luminous Mohican’ on his helmet and raises money for the LumoHawk Foundation.
Other fundraising events include friends and team members participating in Iron Man South Africa, the Cape Rouleur and Pick n Pay Argus Cycle Race, and most notably the legendary Double Loop, a double lap of the Telkom 94.7 Cycle Challenge.
Tour de France winner Chris Froome has traditionally supported this initiative. Other events include fundraising lunches, dinners and concerts.
